...Why is everyone setting up journals at Dreamwidth? What's the deal? Is this any different than a few years ago when everyone got a JournalFen account?

Just wondering, because it's all over my flist. It seems like everyone has a DW account, and I can't figure out why.

[livejournal.com profile] spasticat ranted about the ugliness of the new Pepsi logo, and then linked to this interpretation of said logo. I will never see it as anything else now. I tried explaining this to the Scientist last night, and once I mentioned legs and a head, he was all "Fat Albert!" So now I will see Fat Albert in the Pepsi logo, too.

From [livejournal.com profile] lunaris1013, there is the brilliant Trader Joe's Song. The guy who created this has an animation/film studio responsible for a ton of amazing commercials and animated bits of movies. The studio made a bunch of the Hershey Kisses commercials, for example. After you're done with the Trader Joe's song, check out the website for more cool stuff.

And a story that [livejournal.com profile] yakgirl put on my radar (though not through LJ), the backstory on 20 Muppets. Because who doesn't love the Muppets?

Finally, this one's going out to [livejournal.com profile] fava_bean. Dwayne Johnson makes an appearance on Go Fug Yourself, and makes everything in the world look better.

I am currently transferring files and running batch processes on PDFs. It is dull and time-consuming, and while it is running I can't run any of the programs I'd normally use. Thus, I do a meme in my downtime.

Meme here. )

In other news, there is a GIANT SPIDER in my office. The thing is about four inches across, and I can see it from about 12 feet away. Of course, it's made its web right over the walkway leading from my desk to the bathrooms, breakroom, and editorial wing. I can either slip past it in hopes that it doesn't fall on me, or talk the long route all the way around the office. STUPID SPIDER.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] missrachael:

I think its inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.

Two Rules:

1) The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Jennifer Elhe's Elizabeth Bennet) or just the person themself.

2) Post a picture! (In comments)

Last night I tried updating my LJ's code for the first time since switching to the S2 stylesheets. Oh holy God, am I lost. I made myself a nice, simple little banner in Photoshop, and all I want is a nice, clean, white page. But for the life of me I can't figure it out. I modified the code from my previous custom layout, and it looked just fine except that it wouldn't show icons with each entry. Arrrrgh. So I'm totally lost. And I'm stuck using one of their layouts until I can wrap my head around the new S2 coding language. I wish I could just do the design work in S1 and transfer it to S2. But whatever.

I'm almost done with my temp job. Tomorrow is my last day. I'm actually kind of glad to be leaving, as this project keeps spiraling away from us crazily. The standards change daily, there's no communication to keep everyone on the same page, and I'm just tired. I'm looking forward to working somewhere with things like style sheets and standards.

And I have to admit, I'm a bit nervous about my new job. When I worked for their rival a few years ago, the atmosphere just got ... oppressive ... after a while. I don't want to work somewhere that beats me down over time. So I'm going to go in with a good attitude and just see what happens. Hopefully they don't run their business the same way, and hopefully I'll be able to do good work with good people and actually enjoy my job. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out well.

Though I think I'm going to hit up Lane Giant this weekend and buy a new pair of pants or two, maybe see what's on the sale rack. I've been wearing the same pairs of pants to work for years, and the same blouses over and over. If I can find some nice new work clothes on sale, I'd like to get them. The new office is definitely more on the business end of "business casual," and I'm afraid what I have for work clothes just isn't going to cut it. But I don't really have the money to spend... We'll see.

Hellboy II is at the Tivoli this weekend. The Scientist is working Friday night, so I think I may go in for the late show and watch the movie again. Oh, Liz & Hellboy, how I love you and your awesomeness.

I'm also going to see if the Scientist wants to finish watching the director's cut of Dark City tonight. We started it on Sunday night and got tired, so decided to finish the second half of the movie from bed. But then the DVD player in the bedroom wouldn't play the disc, and we've been gone/busy every night since then. So hopefully we'll catch up tonight. I have to say, I like this version much better. The special effects aren't as cheesy, and there's more stuff with Emma, so that's always good. I'm looking forward to see what other little tweaks have been made.

Name change to the journal. I'm now [livejournal.com profile] eee1313. Considering I got my new name on the Social Security card, I figure I'd change the LJ name as well.

EEE!

I also want a new layout. Something with either rubber ducks (Devil Ducks?) or jellyfish. Neither are easily accessible.

And finally, I am exhausted.
eee1313: (Default)
For the first time in years I have changed my default icon. FRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUITCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE! Awwwww yeah.

More importantly, a big, wonderful, ginormous HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] mei_x! I hope you have an absolutely fabulous day today, and that your next year is the best one yet. WOOOOOOOO!

PS to everyone else—Charlie Brown Christmas is on tonight, 8 pm EST. Why it's on in NOVEMBER instead of December is beyond me. Seriously, a little early this year CBS? Whatever. Hopefully I'll get to watch it at the gym, otherwise I will be annoyed.

Theme Songs (ganked from my friend Cinnamon)

So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool...

My songs. )

Yeah, that's all I got.

Go give me (anonymous) love! Or just ignore it.

Oh, and FYI, if anyone needs me anytime soon... My phone battery is almost dead, and the charger's at home. So I hope none of y'all have to call me.

Meh.

Because Brendan Fraser's gauntlet makes me happy. So does Rachel Weisz's hair. Yay! Man, I really need to stop with The Mummy already... Or, make more Mummy icons! (C'mon, [livejournal.com profile] xica_s, you know you want some!)

Also, note to [livejournal.com profile] deeablo, I tried finding pictures of Morris Day. Unfortunately, no one on [livejournal.com profile] cap_it thinks Graffiti Bridge OR Purple Rain are worthy of screencaps. That is a shame. You will have your icon. Oh yes, you WILL have your icon.

In other news, had a very busy weekend. Don't want to be at work; would prefer to be sleeping. Glad I'm going home at a normal hour at night. Also have 2 new pairs of kickass boots, knee-high in black and brown. Yay!

In the news of the fanboy vs. fangirl battle, Mark loaned me RotS this morning. Might watch it tonight. He watched "Serenity" (the episode, not the movie) this weekend and liked it. Didn't like "The Train Job" but will continue watching. He keeps calling Mal "Han," which makes me smile.

In case anyone *cough*[livejournal.com profile] sunbrae*cough* is interested, I made some rather plain icons based off the opening credits of Felicity. You can find them here.

Also, I ate roasted corn soup from the restaurant downstairs. I thought it would be good. I was wrong. Now my mouth tastes gross.
eee1313: (Felicity - hey)
Just a quick note... Spent the day with Jen, an old friend from my last job. We hung out, talked, ate, and watched five hours of Felicity. We are such losers! Then had dinner with BJ. Yesterday was my mom's birthday, so I spent the day at their house hanging out with her. Friday night I went out with D for dinner, then we met with [livejournal.com profile] fava_bean for gellato. All is good.

Also, in case any of you want it, I've been doing a c&p job on DL since Friday night/Saturday morning. It can now be found at [livejournal.com profile] dl_archive. All of DL1 and DL2 is there, and half of DL3 (so far). I'll be adding the rest later this week, as well as the drabble tag a bunch of us were involved in. Please pass the word on to any of the DL writers who may not be in the loop that their work can be found in that archive. Thanks!
