Stupid plane!

Some stupid plane just went off the runway at Midway because it's fucking snowing and all. And they're interrupting Smallville's "Lex-mas" episode for a telephone interview with an eyewitness. Okay, NO ONE who watches Smallville gives a shit about a stupid airplane. Put Lex back on, and Clark and drunken Santa.

Shit. Now I'm gonna have to download this. When the torrent goes up, would someone let me know?

ETA: Okay, now I feel bad, because a little kid got killed. The question remains: why wasn't the flight delayed, or redirected or something because of the snow? [livejournal.com profile] deeablo told me she ran into someone who had to come back from O'Hare because flights were cancelled. Why accept inbound planes if it's too dangerous to have outbound planes?

You know, that's what I realized this morning. The reason I was pissy about this last night wasn't because they were interrupting TV for the news. I was upset because they were interrupting TV for the news when they didn't even know the news yet. They couldn't report anything, except that the plane went off the runway, and maybe into the street. They had no specifics, so why spend the time interrupting TV to talk about it? It just seems like another example of the news being all "LOOKOUT! BAD THINGS ARE HAPPENING! WE HAVE TO TELL YOU ABOUT HOW YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!!!!" I think I'm just so used to the news media playing Chicken Little for so long that I automatically think they're overreacting to stuff, even when they aren't.
