Both filmed versions are disappointing in their own special ways. I don't know that anyone actually considers the Lynch version a SF masterpiece; not even people who like it a lot (like me). It's a total mess, but is far more interesting than the miniseries, I think. Brad Dourif! Creepy Alicia Witt!
