Wheee! Pirates! And fanfic!
Dec. 28th, 2003 06:41 pmI'm watching Pirates of the Caribbean with Poo-flung and Yakgirl. Somehow they never saw this film. Wuh-huh? I don't understand that at all. But now we're watching it, and the pirates have just invaded Port Royale. I don't know how many times I've seen this movie now. Five, maybe? It's just so much fun.
Also, I saw Elf today. What a cute movie. Will Ferrel is just wonderful in that movie, and the jack-in-the-box scenes were inspired. So funny.
So my flight tomorrow leaves at 7:05 a.m., which means I'll probably have to be at the airport rather early. Boo. But I do have a window seat, which hopefully means I'll have a nice view of New York City when I land at Newark. I saw it coming out to Providence, which was cool. The Empire State Building was all lit up in red and green, and it was really pretty. I haven't seen NYC in about five years.

taraljc's Firefly recommendations off The Cortex, and they're really quite good. If you're jonesing for a Firefly fic (penguinrae and bigboobedcanuck, I'm looking at you), I'd suggest starting here. Goldenthorn's "Stay" is lots of fun, and Bookworm's "Paid in Full" is also rather fun. On ljc's request, I'm also reading stuff by Hawkmoth (specifically "As Dreams are Made On" and "Dealing"), who has a great grasp on the character's voices. And of course, there's ljc's fanfic, which I love. So there you are. If I finish up Hawkmoth's stuff on the plane, I'm then going to finish reading cousinjean's "The Butterfly Effect" (which thankfully has nothing to do with Ashton Kutcher). I really enjoyed the concept of this Spuffy story, and it's really well-written, but I didn't keep up with it as it was written. Whoops. Sorry, ceej!
Also, my paid LJ time is going to be all used up soon (thanks again so much,scarlet1815!), so I have to decide which of all my icons to use. If there are any in particular you especially like, let me know. Because I have no idea which 10 to choose. And I would buy myself some paid time, but I want my new computer at some point in time. But I did get myself some new pajamas today, although mine are red. So I'm not super-good about saving up for the new Mac. Oh well. I needed some new pajamas...
