Now I know how [livejournal.com profile] taraljc felt...

My boss is a freaking moron! Arrrrrgh! Okay, so two months ago, I designed into material for a book. Headers for the table of contents, appendices, glossary, and index. These sat between three different offices for two full months, waiting for someone to make a decision on design. Don't like the designs I've created? Fine, tell me, I'll make you some new ones. But nooooo. I get the book back today for final corrections before it goes to the printer, and I see that all of my headers have been replaced. The boss didn't like the look of the ones I'd done, even though they were lifted straight out of the design done AND APPROVED by another illustrator over a year ago. The headers I created exactly match the inside material in the book. But no, rather than having me redo these designs with months to spare, the boss had them redone by a completely different illustrator, who rather than copy the inside material style, he lifted designs from the book cover. These look completely different, they don't match ANYTHING inside the book, and they look like shit. Complete and utter shit.

I'm fucking pissed as hell that a) my designs were scrapped without my knowledge or without the opinion of the book's editor, and that b) they were replaced with completely inferior artwork done in under an hour. The fucking font doesn't even match, for the love of God!

I am SO taking this up with Pete. This is bullshit. They had MONTHS to get this done right.

On a whim, I brought the Queen of the Damned soundtrack to work so I could load it into Winamp. Thank God for little favors, because now I have angry music to calm me down a bit. Wayne Static is good with the growly-yelly-singy thing he does.
