Every time it snows, Yakgirl and I would quote this exchange from The King and I to one another. Because we are dorks. Yis.
So it's snowing here in Chicago. Pelting, sleet-like snow, whipping through the air sideways. It's good times. It actually wasn't bad walking to/from the train this morning, except when I got to the corner of Wacker & Monroe. All the snow turned to slush and then collected at the curbs. Puddles were about six inches deep and about two feet across. I made it all the way to my office without getting my feet cold/wet, and then, not 50 feet from the door of my building, I got soaked. I meant to bring dry socks with me today, but I forgot. Alas. So now I'm sitting here with my shoes off, hoping my socks will dry out sooner rather than later. But there's SNOW! And it's PRETTY!
Tonight after work I'm going to the Christkindlmarket* at Daley Plaza with the Scientist, Krista, Nancy, and possibly![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
fava_bean. I've never been to it, and the idea of it blanketed in snow sounds fabulous. Of course, in reality it will probably be cold, slushy, and miserable, but I'm holding out hope the snow will stop, everything will be shoveled by 5:45, and it will be a lovely winter wonderland. I really want to find this marzipan rhino to put in my dad's stocking for Christmas this year. He has a thing for rhinos, and this is just weird enough to get a good laugh out of him.
Anyway, how are the rest of y'all doing?
*I am SO annoyed by the spelling of this event. It should be "Christkindlmarkt." Not "market." That's like calling it "Oktoberfestival." For real.
