Today better get better.
Feb. 14th, 2007 09:30 amSo far today has been a bust. I went out to the parents' house last night, right? Well, this morning I got up extra early so that I could take the train in. About five minutes before I'm supposed to leave, I can't find my hairspray. My hair is all flat and lifeless without it, and dammit, I wanted to look pretty today. The annoying thing is that I had an extra bottle stashed at my parents' house, and I had it there last night. Like, I picked up the bottle to take with me in the morning, but once morning hit it was nowhere to be seen. Dammit all.
So THEN, Dad's driving me to the train station and rather than turning at the second light (like I told him to do), he decides to turn at the first one. And there's a broken-down car right at the corner, so everyone's merging around and none of the people making left-hand turns can get through. And Dad's all mad and "Move it, people!" and I wanted to be like "Go to the next light like I said, dammit!" But no. So we wait for the next light, and then just as he pulls into the train station parking lot, the train doors close. Dammit all! A few people were running alongside the train and jumping on hobo-style where there was a door that didn't close properly, but I'll be damned if I'm going to risk slipping and falling and slicing off a leg under the train. So instead I wait for the 8:03, which would have me in at the station by 8:44. Okay, so I'd be 20 minutes late. No big deal.
Except that the train was SOOOOOO slow. And then, just as we pull up to Union Station, the train just sits there. It seems they didn't clear out any of the empty trains that were at the platforms. What the hell? So we have to sit and wait. And wait. And then there's a switching problem, so we have to wait some more. I didn't get off the train until 9:05, which meant I wasn't in the office till 9:12 or so, and that's really late. Arrrrrrrrrgh.
And the coffeemaker here is STILL broken. And I had bad dreams last night about being trapped on a spaceship with werewolves and the VP of my company. And I have searing pain in my jaw again from clenching. And I had to use the shitty backup hairspray here at work, and my hair looks awful, and TODAY SUCKS AND BETTER GET BETTER!!!
