Dec. 11th, 2009 02:38 pmTonight is the annual office Christmas party. I did not go last year, as I was new-ish and still didn't have friends at the office. This year, I am going. The Scientist is working tonight, so I figure if I go, I don't have to worry about what to make myself for dinner. Yes, really, that's my reasoning for going: free dinner. My coworker's wife also is working, so he and I are going together and plan on sitting with a bunch of others who are going stag/single. We're calling it "the kids' table," and we're going to have more fun than all those stuffy boring people. Yeah! There are only two problems. 1) The place of the party is nowhere close to home, so it doesn't make sense to go home, change, and then drive back PAST my office to get to this party. So instead, I'm changing into a dress in the bathroom and hanging out at Caribou Coffee in full party atire for two hours. 2) It's not warm outside by any means, and I prefer to stay bundled up under several layers of clothes this time of year. However, even though no dress code has been stated, we're supposed to dress nicely. Like, dress pants and a nice sweater are "slumming it." So now I have to wear a dress, which will be cold. But I'm wearing tights, knee-boots, and a cashmere cardigan in an attempt to stay warm. We'll see how that works.
Anyway, the point of all this is that I will not be home at sundown to wish people HAPPY HANNUKAH!!! So I'm doing it now. May your holiday be filled with love, joy, and happiness.
