Last night we went to see DH2, and I liked it a lot. Again, I haven't read the books, so I can't tell you how well of an adaptation the movie was. But as a movie, it holds up very well for non-readers. (Unlike HBP, I only had a few minor, minor questions for the Scientist after seeing this one.) The movie itself is extremely well done. The action sequences (of which there are many) weren't confusingly smash-cut to the point of not knowing what's going on. That's always good. Take note, Michael Bay, we WANT to know who's fighting whom in our action scenes! The emotional scenes carried a lot of weight. Even I, a non-reader, got teary at points. Be warned, however, that the movie picks up exactly where the last movie ended. So if you're like me and haven't seen DH1 since it was in theaters, you might have a few minutes of "Hey, wait, what happened again? Oh yeeeeeeeeeah..."

Despite having not read the books, I was pretty well spoiled going into this film. The only thing I didn't know about was Snape's outcome, so I really enjoyed watching those scenes. Is he a good guy, a good guy gone bad, or a good guy pretending to be a bad guy to help the good guys?

One MINOR spoiler for those who haven't seen it yet. )

So who wants to bet that DH2 will come out on DVD/Blu-Ray right around Christmas, and then next July there will be a deluxe edition with both movies together, and then the year AFTER there will be a super director's cut of both movies, only to have them later come out with ALL of the movies on deluxe Blu-Ray editions with even MORE behind the scenes stuff? Needless to say, we won't be buying either part of Deathly Hallows until we know how the format will officially be presented. We're not falling for these kinds of shenanigans again (*cough*Avatar*cough*). ;)
