Feb. 23rd, 2013 08:44 amLast night I had a weird dream that I was visiting Seattle, and there were sea monsters in the river that ran through the city. We were staying at a cabin near the river and one of the sea monsters jumped up out of the river onto the porch of our cabin, then INTO the cabin where we barricaded it in the bathroom. We called 911 so that they could have the animal cops come and kill it for us. The reason I'm sharing is that in my dream, the sea monsters were called coelacanths. I woke up wondering "What is that word?" So I looked it up online, and they're prehistoric fish that are still alive today. (
aj, don't click the link!) Way for my brain to remember a bizarre fact and turn it into a semi-correct plotline for a dream!
After that, I dreamt that
yakgirl and I were on a road trip and randomly came across the mansion where they filmed Annie. She and I were like \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ for the rest of the dream. Because we are nerds.
What else? Watched the season finale of Suits. That was probably the raciest thing I've seen on TV in FOREVER, holy crap. Loving Jessica for smacking Harvey down. Loving Donna for always being the voice of reason. Harvey's being a little snot, so I'm rather glad Jessica's not letting him get away with anything. I feel badly for Mike being caught in the middle, though. It's funny, but Suits is that show where I have no interest in watching but once it's on I'm all "Darn, this is a good show." And it has Rick Hoffman, whom I love. LOVE. So there you are.
Oh, and Castle on Monday was awesome. I'm not spoiler-spacing this because it's been almost a week. Skip if you haven't watched. So anyway, when Castle goes into the room with the injured kidnapper, and the guy's all "You can't do anything to me" and Castle's all "I'm not a cop, I'm that girl's FATHER" and you see the guy's eyes get all big? That was AWESOME. Because if you're going to kidnap a girl, the last thing you want is to be left alone in a room with her dad because you KNOW he's going to kick your ass. Not just kick your ass, he's going to seriously, mercilessly, and permanently injure you beyond anything if that's what it takes. And I love love love that Castle will go there for Alexis, no questions asked, no thinking twice. AWESOME. Though next week looks as if it's going to be a ridiculous takeoff on Taken, which could lighten the mood considerably from this past week's episode. All in all, though, Nathan Fillion totally sold me. Yay!
Finally, I saw A Good Day to Die Hard. It was terrible. Absolutely terrible. John McClane had no regard for anything, which is not in character at all. In the past if he blows things up and people are in the way, he at least TRIES not to have collateral damage. In this movie, he just runs over cars with total abandon, no worries about the innocent commuters inside. And the plot was STUPID with GIANT HOLES in it, and honestly this was the loudest film I've seen in years. It honestly gave me a headache. I think it was loud on purpose just so that you couldn't hear the dialogue. When it ended, the Scientist said to me "We should have seen Beautiful Creatures instead." Then as we were leaving the theater, we ran into his two brothers who were also at the movie. One of them said "You know what the best thing about this movie was? Running into you two afterward." OUCH. So yeah, all four of us thought it was crap. Stay away and keep your happy memories of John McClane unsullied.
Otherwise, all is well. Work is crazy-busy (yesterday at one point I was literally working on three books at once). The Scientist's job is still going well. And VEE is much more mobile than she has been in the past. We really hope she'll take her first unassisted steps soon. As of now, she loves to walk all over the place if you hold her hands. Oh, and as for her eating habits the doc says she's fine. I guess once babies' growth spurts start to level out, they start getting picky about food and don't eat as much. So no worries there. Besides, this morning she ate a ton of Cheerios and then insisted on eating some of my cereal as well. Now she's napping happily, which is good seeing as how she had me up at 6 a.m. on a Saturday. I swear, having a kid kills all potential for ever sleeping in on a weekend ever again.
Oscars tomorrow! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I cannot wait. I love the red carpet. I love the ceremony. I have a bottle of champagne in the wine fridge that will be cracked open while I watch. Yay!
