The rundown...

First and foremost, it seems my office building was the target of a bomb scare yesterday afternoon. I didn't find out until now. I'm glad we didn't get blown up. Seriously.
Secondly, Chicago Firefly fans: they're already selling tickets for the charity Serenity screening on June 22. I'm going to get a ticket. Join me if you'd like!
Thirdly, it seems people hate Toronto. I, personally, love Toronto.
bigboobedcanuck, are YOU a corporate zombie? ARE YOU???
Finally, last night the Scientist and I did manage to score tickets to see Knocked Up. And it was good. There are definitely going to be comparisons to The 40-Year-Old Virgin, because it's the same writer/director/producer/actors team. But while it's similar, there are big differences. While I found Virgin to have a good story with constant laughs, Knocked Up was a really good story with many chuckles and a few really good laughs. For me, it's not as funny, but when the funny hits, it's GOOD. Maybe it's being a female, but a lot of the gynecology jokes KILLED me.
The story is about Allison (Katherine Heigl), a TV personality at E! who has a one night stand with Ben (Seth Rogan). As the title states, she gets pregnant and the two decide to try to have a relationship for the sake of their oncoming baby. But there's also a whole subplot about Allison's sister (Debbie Mann) and brother-in-law (Paul Rudd) whose marriage is falling apart. I really liked all four characters, and while Allison's sister came across as a raging bitch most of the time, you really end up rooting for her and her husband to work it out, just like how you want Ben to pull his shit together and work it out with Allison.
And of course, there are all of Ben's stoner friends, Jason (Jason Segel of Freaks & Geeks and How I Met Your Mother), Jay (Jay Baruchel of Undeclared), Jonah (Jonah Hill, the "Ask me about my weiner!" guy from Accepted), and Martin (Martin Starr, aka Bill Haverchuck of Freaks & Geeks in full-on Shoe Bomber beard and hair). Yup, creative names for those guys. While a lot of what these guys have to do is just sit around making stoner jokes, I love them all for their past work and really enjoyed them all sitting around busting on each other.
The story is actually pretty good, and pretty much every character screws up badly at one point or another. No one is without fault here, which I like. It's a very raw story at times, and some of the stuff that's said really cuts. But there are some hysterical moments that really work. And OMG, the birthing scene at the end FREAKED ME OUT. I was laughing and shrieking and had my hands over my eyes. Afterwards I told the Scientist that we aren't having kids for YEARS. Seriously.
But I definitely recommend this movie. I don't even know when it comes out, but it's a raunchy, smart comedy with a really good story. So I guess in that regard it IS like The 40-Year-Old Virgin. So if you liked that one, you'll like this one, too.
Oh, and there's a whole "Going to Vegas and watching Cirque du Soliel on shrooms" bit that KILLED ME. I'm laughing now just thinking about it.
