Been really busy with work, and probably will be for a while longer.

However, I saw two movies this past weekend. The first was Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. We saw that because the Scientist had free tickets, and we took his mom. She has a hearing impairment, so movies with big noises and little dialog work best for her. The first half hour of the movie was embarassing for all actors involved. The middle part was much better, mostly due to Julian McMahon. He is HAWT. Basically, the movie was pretty much forgettable, but a good popcorn flick for free. Heh.

Then we saw Ratatouille, which I REALLY enjoyed. Very good movie. Not very "childish" at all. The slapstick comedy so often relied on to entertain children (Disney, I'm looking at you) was barely there, and when used it always made sense for the story. Honestly, I think this was probably the most grown-up Pixar movie yet. Two thumbs up. Very good. And their version of Paris is LOVELY, and quite realistic. Highly recommended.

And I didn't see it, but last night the Scientist saw Transformers. Here's his take on it. He thought it was okay, but long, something like two and a half hours. The CGI is great, the story is lacking, but that's to be expected. He did say he's pleased that there's actually some sort of reason for why the robots hang out with teenagers, because that always bugged him as a kid. He thinks it was "okay ... good." Overall he enjoyed it, but it sounds like a brainless action movie, which is pretty much exactly what everyone expects it to be. So there you are.

In other news, I hope they let us out of work early today...
