This past weekend was pretty nice. Friday night I desperately needed to do laundry, so I headed over to the Scientist's place. I did three loads, and then we went to meet up with his friends Kelly and Kelly for ice cream. It was good.

Saturday we went shopping and such. Spent the day at a store looking at stuff for our registry. Yes, I know this is way far in advance, but at least we can get a feel for what's out there. Plus, the other couples were all "I wish we had started sooner. Doing this at the last minute is terrible."

Afterwards we drove into the city to [livejournal.com profile] fava_bean's place. She did her monthly movie night, and we watched Casino Royale along with [livejournal.com profile] mei_x and [livejournal.com profile] fishdoctorpost. It was really nice to see both of them, and a very fun evening just talking and drinking too much wine and watching a good movie.

On Sunday I met up with [livejournal.com profile] yakgirl and her husband for an early lunch, as they were in town for yakgirl's best friend Jennnnnn's wedding. So we did lunch together, and then yakgirl and I took off to the far north suburbs to a wedding shower. Yakgirl's childhood best friend is getting married in September, so she was having her wedding shower at her future sister-in-law's ginormous mansion. I've never been in a house that big (that was privately owned, I should say). It was actually a very nice event, but it made for a long day.

Then we drove back to meet up with my brother-in-law, and we had dinner together, and then they took off for my parents' house, and I went home. Upon getting home, I realized I should have been running my AC while I was gone, because it was so hot. Ugh. Terrible.

Oh, and fava loaned my her set of the Phillip Pullman "His Dark Materials" trilogy. I just started on The Golden Compass the other day, and it's been designated as my train reading. So far I'm loving it. I know everyone says the third book is a total letdown, but the first one is awesome so far. And I can totally see Daniel Craig as Asriel in the movie version.

There's a guy at my office who totally reminds me of Tobias Fünke. Seriously, that's what we've nicknamed him. (He doesn't know that, of course.)

And that's what I've been up to lately. The end.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

He wants to come to the magazine launch party on Friday. Apparently he's really into dark industrial music. If this is who I'm thinking of, any it's gotta be who I'm thinking of.

Oh, it's never too early to look at registry goodies. Be sure and pick lots of stuff - folks like to have choices :)

I've had Golden Compass on loan to me forever. Sounds like a good time for me to finally dive in...

It also sounds like you had a fun (and full!) weekend. Glad it was a good one :)
