Larimar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larimar) is a milky blue stone from the Dominican Republic. They only started mining for it in the mid-70s, so it's fairly new to the jewelry market. According to my father-in-law (who is a sort of self-proclaimed, self-taught gemologist), it's the hot stone in the jewelry market right now, as it's just now starting to hit mass market in general. He also says there will be a limited supply due to it only coming from one area of the world, much like tanzanite (also from the Caribbean).
