I love my mom. I really do. But sometimes it's liek she completely forgets who I am. For example, she just called me here at work to ask what my plans were for the night. I had planned last week that I'd come over for dinner tonight, seeing as how my Uncles are in town. Apparantly, Mom forgot, which is understandable considering how many house guests she'll be having this week.
Mom then suggested that I drive out to their place, pick up my Uncles, and take them back to my apartment in the OP so they could see it. Then, after Mom and Dad drive into the city to pick up my aunt, they could drop by my place on the way back and nab my uncles. It sounds like a good plan. It's actually a very good plan. Except that my mom completely forgot who I am. And I am a person who lives in complete chaos. She should know this. I need at least 24-hours' notice before people come to visit, so that I can get things in order. Today, I got exactly 0 hour's notice. That's not cool, Mom. Not cool at all.
So I told her that currently I have:
* a sink full of dirty dishes
* a room littered with laundry, as I was sorting it this morning before leaving for work
* two carpets in desperate need of vacuuming
* an unmade bed
* a toilet and sink that need cleaning
* old mail and wrapping paper all over my coffee table
* a litterbox to clean
I can get this all done, and in very little time, but not without proper notice. Sheesh, Mom. Really.
So I told her that just ain't gonna work. Instead, I'm going over there as planned, will have dinner and hang out with the Uncles, and clean tomorrow night. Friday I have the dinner party at Dan's, and so I figured the Uncles and my aunt can come over on Saturday to see my place. It's all good.
Why couldn't Mom have just called last night about this? Really.
