Just a quick blog about things, new baby pictures, plus a recipe for pumpkin goodness. Mmmmmmm.

First off, there's a new book that seems rather interesting. I bet the author also hates "grow the economy."

In other news, four cabinet members have resigned, including Colin Powell (note to him: it's COL-in, not CO-lin, dammit!) and education secretary Rod Paige. ::does dance of joy at the second one:: With Powell's resignation, this probably means Condoleeza Rice gets his spot. Hmmm.

I'm glad I'm not flying out to visit my sister tomorrow morning. The lead story on the news here in Chicago is that Midway Airprot is in lockdown right now. No planes coming in or out, as a baggage screener saw an image of a grenade in a suitcase. The terminals were emptied, the bag was grabbed, the owner was pulled... And it turns out they grabbed the wrong bag and the wrong man. So now they're looking for both. Yay? So the airport's been closed since about 7:30 or so, which means that the place is going to be a zoo tomorrow while they get the flights sorted out. Hopefully things will calm down by the time I fly on Wednesday. Ack.

In other news, it's about time I fessed up my shameful secret. Every week, after Everwood or Jack & Bobby ends, I wait with baited breath for the WGN News at Nine. Why? For my TV boyfriend, Juan Carlos. Oh, Juan Carlos, you are so sexy. That grin! That barrel chest! That mole on your face! You're like Enrique Iglesias, but sexier. Oh, Juan Carlos!

Yes, I am joking.

But I'm not joking about James Marsters in that The Mountain preview, which I just saw for the first time. Good. Lord. And [livejournal.com profile] jrs1980 is totally right about his weirdo sorta-Brit-wannabe accent. "Ohi feel a high five comin' ohn!" Eeeek.

Okay, did any of you watch The Secret Garden on the Hallmark Hall of Fame when you were a kid? The one with Derek Jacobi? Okay, I loved this when I was a kid. It turns out [livejournal.com profile] fava_bean has a copy, which she just watched with our friend Colleen. The scene at the end, when Mary returns to the garden, and grown-up Colin is there? Dude. That's Colin Firth. GUH!!! I so have to borrow this movie from her. I've been wanting to re-watch it for forever, anyway. Dude.

fava_bean is informing me that watching this movie as an adult isn't the same as watching it as a kid. I guess it's cheesey, and uses the music waaaaay too much. But still, Colin Firth! We didn't appreciate THAT as kids!
