I may become a Trekkie
Jul. 29th, 2007 04:56 pmYou know how I like scifi, but how I draw the line at Star Trek, right? I've never been able to get into that show -- any incarnation of it. Sure, there were some viewings of TNG here and there, and I've heard that DS9 was really great in latter seasons, but still. I just can't get into it. And the original series? Sure, I love Leonard Nimoy's "Ballad of Bilbo Baggins," and the Shats (as
queenofalostart calls him) amuses me to no end. But original Star Trek just makes me roll my eyes.
And now JJ Abrams is doing the movie, and Sylar from Heroes (and Tori Spelling's gay best friend on So NoTORIous) is playing Spock. Okay, kind of a fun recast, sure. But still, it's Star Trek, so it elicits a big yawn from me. But then
yakgirl sent me the latest casting rumor: Robbie Williams as Captain James T. Kirk. O_O!!!
So let's ignore the fact that for some reason my sister came across Star Trek casting rumors online. (Seriously, how did she get there?) Let's just focus on the idea of Robbie Williams, MOVIE STAR. Holy crap. If this happens, this will be the catalyst for me becoming a Trekkie. Sure, real Trekkies everywhere will shit themselves over this news, saying that JJ Abrams will ruin the movie, blah blah. I don't care. If this happens, I will be there on opening night, watching Robbie on a giant screen, swooning over Captain Kirk. Because hello, ROBBIE!!!
(This is better than the time
deeablo suggested that Robbie should open for the Spice Girls on their reunion tour. Speaking of which, why are they adding another show in California, but completely ignoring the Midwest. Come ON, Spice Girls, do a Chicago show already!)

In other news, I saw Order of the Phoenix last night. It was pretty good. The end.
