Sep. 25th, 2007 09:06 amSo is anyone else following the stories from Myanmar about the anti-military government protests? Hundreds of thousands of people are demonstrating against the military-led government, and Bhuddist monks are leading the marches. This is the government that has ignored the public election that voted them out of office and is using military power to stay in control. They've also put Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest for 12 years for trying to peacefully overthrow the military. Anyway, it's absolutely amazing that this is happening, and I haven't really heard people talking about it. (Then again, I haven't been watching world news lately due to being busy with the move and all.) But check out the pictures here, they're absolutely inspiring.
In other news, we went to the final walk-through last night. The family was in the process of moving out at the time. WTF? We were told they were moving out Monday during the day, and that the walk-through wouldn't be a problem. Whatever! I am so tired of these people. I'll just be happy to have the keys in five hours, so that I never have to deal with them again. And they were all "If you could have come tomorrow morning..." and the Scientist and I were all "We have to WORK." Seriously, THEY are the ones that changed the closing date. It's THEIR fault everything happened at once, not ours. Idiots.
After the closing we watched Heroes. For the most part I thought it was a little dull, but then the ending just hooked you in. ( Spoiler cut. )
I haven't watched HIMYM yet. Please don't spoil me.
From there, we went back to my apartment to get clothes for the week, stuff for the wedding, and my cat. That's the last time my cat will ever be in that apartment. I kind of feel bad about that, like I just uprooted her for the rest of her life with no warning. Anyway, on the drive home she peed in her carrier, though we didn't know it. Then we let her out and she spent the entire ride in the Scientist's lap. So he smelled like cat pee. D'oh! Anyway, now she's all settled in at his apartment and has the run of the place, climbing all over everything. At least she's at home now. In a week, we'll just uproot her again. Take that, cat!
Anyway, I need to get to work. The closing is this afternoon at 2:30, so if y'all could cross your fingers for us, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
