Vacuum help
Mar. 29th, 2009 03:11 pmHey flist, I need suggestions in regards to vacuums. The Scientist's vacuum crapped out on him today, and so we're looking to buy a new one. However, these things are pricey, and for the amount of money we're going to spend we want to make sure we're getting a good one.
Our house has hardwood and tile floors downstairs (with area rugs), and full carpeting upstairs. I have a fluffy cat, so there's hair.
We'd prefer something bagless, as it's just easier what with the gobs of cat hair getting sucked up every time. I've heard great things about Dyson, but those are just too expensive. Consumer reports gave the Kenmore Progressive with Intelli-Clean a top review, but there were too many personal reviews on the Sears site saying that it crapped out within two years. That's not good. We also came across the Bissel Lift-Off Revolution, which is supposed to be good for pet hair, but we don't know much about it.
Needless to say, we have to do more research. But I thought I'd turn to you to see if any of you have suggestions for us. Is there any brand/model you'd recommend? Any you'd tell us to stay the hell away from? Any suggestions are welcome, and I appreciate the help in advance.
