eee1313: (The Apple - Mr Boogalow)
On Friday evening my sister-in-law J came over to keep me company. We watched The Apple, as J is into really really really bad movies. She loved it because it was so terrible, and decided that it is one of the worst movies she'd ever seen. Hooray, another convert! (Also, to those who are initiated, I'd like to point out that the BIM exercise hour lasts for only 1 minute 45 seconds on screen, but it is certainly the longest 1 minute 45 seconds of your life.) Later the Scientist came home and we watched the beginning of Krull. Oh yeah, bad movies all around. Then J fell asleep, so we drove her home and went in search of Bacci's Pizza, which we thought was open late but was, in fact, not. Sadface.

On Saturday I met up with my friend D and we had lunch. She told me all about her new job, which sounds wonderful. Then we came back to our house, and her boyfriend joined us, and the three of us played Settlers of Cataan with the Scientist. I lost in a spectacular fashion. Again, sadface. Then the two of them left, and the Scientist and I went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Now, before I give my thoughts, let me preface this by saying I have not read any of the books and don't plan to until ALL of the movies are complete. I want to appreciate the films for what they are, and then let the books flesh out the stories more. Also, I'm tired of hearing people whine about how "it's not as good as the booooooook." Of course it's not. DUH. Now shut up and let me enjoy my movie for what it is. Ahem. Anyway, the point is that there's a lot of backstory I know I'm not getting, which may explain why I have differences of opinions than people who've read the books.

Potentially spoilery thoughts. )

OH!!! I also saw the trailer for New Moon, which included the FURSPLODE! And that made me giggle, but no one else in the theater seemed to find it funny. Sadface.

Yesterday the Scientist and I had pancakes for breakfast, then did some shopping for his brother's birthday gift. Then we came home, and the Scientist decided we were going to play tennis. Our neighborhood clubhouse has a tennis court, and he's been extremely interested in playing lately. So yesterday he finally talked me into it, despite the fact that he's never played before and I haven't played since sophomore year of high school. [livejournal.com profile] deeablo gave us directions for how to actually play over the phone, but in the end her help went unused. We just spent most of the time trying to lob the ball across the net at one another. I am good at serving, but have absolutely no backhand. In fact, I suck mightily. But eventually we did start to get a good volley going, and I actually was enjoying myself despite my best efforts. Then we went to his parents' house for dinner, and it was just them and us and the boys, as everyone else was out seeing Harry Potter.

Today at work I'm trying to catalog all the books I've done in the past 10 months and log them into the online repository. I guess I was supposed to do this from book one, but the woman who trained me never mentioned it until two weeks ago. Since the book I was supposed to work on was pulled back, this is now my activity on the day. It's fun slogging through old paperwork trying to get page counts and printer assignments. ::headdesk:: So there we are.
