eee1313: (Batman Begins - who/what)
[personal profile] eee1313
According to this blurb on IMDb, there is definitely going to be a sequel to Batman Begins. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman have all signed on. Who's not there? Katie Holmes. Boo-yah! I guess studios realized that a) the TomKat shite is too annoying to put up with for another movie, and b) she couldn't hold up against the rest of the cast. I mean, she wasn't bad, really, but on screen with everyone else, she just seemed... not up to par. Plus, her little smirk during the whole scene in the car with Bruce right before she slaps him just made me want to slap her. Why are you smirking? The guy just went to the parole trial for the guy who killed his parents. There is no need for smirking!

So in conclusion, I am a happy girl with this news.

And I would talk to you about something other than Batman Begins, but unfortunately I don't have much else to say. Work is still busy as hell, and I'm still cleaning my aparment. Yes, this is a multi-day activity, what of it? Tonight I need to do laundry. That's really about all I've got. Oh, except that a new coffee house opened around the corner from me, and their menu looks great. Plus, they do take-out, and they're open till 8 every night. Woooo! [livejournal.com profile] fava_bean, you're coming over. They have a bananas Foster drink. Shades of Don? Hell yes.

Wow, Warner Bros. wasn't pulling any punches. I mean, it's one thing to be angry that the TomKat story was stealing thunder, it's another to say "we'll have a stronger actress next time." I mean, OUCH.

That said, I am indeed focused on who they'll get to play the Joker. My friend [livejournal.com profile] hannibalv offered an inspired suggestion of Crispin Glover, and I agree.

Crispin's already on the short list, as is Mark Hammill. That makes me very happy.

i heard yesterday that they green-lighted a sequel based on the weekend bo figures. and i wouldn't discount the katie yet, although i could understand them leaving her out. bruce wayne never let one girl hang around for long. :)

really i just want to make sure christopher nolan comes back.

Katie's certainly better than Kim Basigner as Vicki "Why don't I scream just one more time" Vale. Ugh. I hated her. But I hope they go with Christian's idea of having an R-rated Batman movie, showing Bruce Wayne as a really fucked-up guy who has Teh Sex but has no emotional connection to it. Frankly, I think that would be a rather brilliant way to show Bruce's disconnect with the world of the playboy billionare. (Plus, he might take his shirt off more. Mmmmmm.)

What I'm pulling for, because they've opened the door already, is that they'll bring in Talia, Ra's daughter. Besides being a first-rate asskicker, she's also got complex emotional issues stemming from her devotion to her father and her infatuation with Batman (not Bruce, mind you, but Batman).

Heh. That's funny, because I know people who HATE Talia. I'm pretty sure I heard one of my friends say "Thank God they didn't have Talia in the movie," after it ended. Although her interest in Batman and not Bruce is interesting, because then it's all "Who does Bruce relate to more, himself or Batman?" When someone else is more interested in the crimefighter than the hero, that's when it really starts to blur the line regarding which is the real face of the hero.

do you think they'll do that? i mean, i would love (love love love times infinity) to see more shirtless CB/BW action, but with the number of kids at the theater this weekend (which honestly didn't please me much), would WB be shooting themselves in the foot by restricting the film?

maybe they'll make an unrated verstion/director's cut.

mmmm, bruce wayne and the sex. mmmm.

I doubt they'd do it. They want to reach the biggest audience possible with the movies. Though it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Bale pushed for a more "adult" vision of Bruce/Batman. I'd love to see two cuts: a theatrical release, and a director's cut as well. But I think if they really were to try to an R-rated cut, I think it would be hard to whittle it down to a PG-13 and still make the stuff regarding Bruce's mental weirdness make sense.

Speaking of sense, am I making any?

i follow you, but only because i am equally obsessed. it has been a while since i've been this crazy about a movie in the theaters. i feel like a kid!

I KNOW!!! Isn't it fun? We're crazy!

Seriously, I feel like more than a dork, raving about this movie for nearly a week straight. But hot damn, if that wasn't the superhero movie I've always wanted to see. (Plus, the fact that it's filmed here in Chicago makes me doubly obsessed.)

and rightly so! i know do not believe it was coincidence that i went to chicago when i did. i met someone to be batty with! yay!

next time i'm up there, you have to show me all the places you recognize in the movie! :) for example, jim gordon's place seemed very familiar to me.

Jim Gordon's apartment looks like every one of my friend's apartments in the city. Seriously, behind every building there's a tangled mess of timber staircases. Good times, especially when one collapses. Wooooo!

i met someone to be batty with!

That's just horrible. And yet I smiled.

I think the one thing I regret most so far this year is missing seeing this movie with you guys. Knowing me, I won't get to see it now until it's out on DVD.

O~

You should see it, anyway. It's really great. The chase scene is almost as good as the one in the second Matrix movie. Seriously, lots of goodness in this film. Go.

I just saw it for the second time last night. So. Damn. Good.

This time I may have gawped a little more at the arm-bruised shirtlessness. He has VERY GOOD arms.

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I actually want to see it again. When have I ever wanted to see a movie in the theater THREE times? Never! It was so beautiful. My big question is, will Gary Oldman be back as Gordon? He was so wonderful in that role. It reaffirmed my love of him and proved that, yes, he can act. He doesn't always have to chew the scenery. I would be severely disappointed to see someone else in that role.

Donato!!!!!!!!! How I love thee. We shall have to toast him with the bananas foster drink. (If I could write something here to simulate singing a sound a quarter tone between B-flat and A I would, but I just can't quite think of anything that could capture it.)

Well, I'm going to drag my mom out to see it when she gets home. I'm sure she'd love to have you join us.

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
