In case any of you are wondering when your favorite Christmas specials will be on TV, here's a rundown (ganked from USAToday). You can thank my sister for letting me know.
I'm only listing the good stuff here. None of this newfangled Nickolodeon crap like Rugrats. Sorry. All times listed are EST. (Thanks, g.)
• Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, CBS.
• Christmas in Rockefeller Center, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, NBC. (With Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Carrie Underwood, Brian Wilson, the Brian Setzer Orchestra and Earth, Wind & Fire.)
• Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, ABC.
• Holiday Inn, 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, AMC.
• Entertainment Weekly's Best Holiday Movies, 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, AMC. (Probably better than VH1's I Love the Holidays. What was that crap?)
• A Charlie Brown Christmas, 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, on ABC.
• The White House Christmas 2005, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, HGTV. (Whatever you think of the Bushes, it's always fun to see the gaudy White House decorations.)
• I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown! 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, ABC.
• It's a Wonderful Life, 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 (check your listings on this, Dec. 10 is a Saturday), and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, NBC.
• Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, ABC. (The Jim Carrey version, not the old animated one.)
• Christmas in Washington, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, TNT. (With Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood and Ciara, hosted by Dr. Phil (WTF?))
• The Santa Clause, 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, ABC. Co-starring David Krumholtz!
• L.A. Holiday Celebration, 10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, PBS. A multicultural program of music and dance with performers of African, Asian, European, Middle Eastern and Hispanic backgrounds marking the season. (This actually sounds cool.)
• Frosty the Snowman, 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, CBS. Followed at 8:30 p.m. by Frosty Returns, narrated by Jonathan Winters.
• Soul Train Christmas Special, 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. (With Wayne Brady, Eric Benet, Tiffany Evans, and others.)
• National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, NBC. (I shouldn't like this movie, but I do.)
• Renee Fleming: Sacred Songs and Carols, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, PBS. (A Great Performances show taped in Germany's Mainz Cathedral.)
• Christmas with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, and 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, PBS.
• A St. Olaf Christmas in Norway, 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, PBS. (I'm not the only one who watches this, am I?)
• Christmas at Belmont, 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, and Sunday, Dec. 25, PBS (check local listings). (With Josh Turner, Belmont University students, faculty and the Nashville Children's Choir. I'm listing this for
georgevna, in case she wants to represent for her town.)
• Creature Comforts — Merry Christmas Everybody, 10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, BBC America. (The Wallace & Gromit creators' first animated shorts. What this has to do with Christmas, I don't know. But dude! Creature Comforts!)
• Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade, 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 25, ABC. (Hosted by Regis & Kelly, with Vanessa Williams, Julie Andrews, Tiger Woods, Fantasia and Hayden Christensen.)

• New Year's Eve Live, 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, Fox. (With Regis Philbin. WHY?)
• Tournament of Roses Parade, 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, NBC.

Date: 2005-11-30 05:58 pm (UTC)I'll have to read that story when I have some more time. Thanks for the link.
And I have never seen The Year Without a Santa Claus. Neither my sister or I ever saw it, and I never even knew it existed until she heard about the Heat Miser from one of her neighbors and was all "WTF?" Weird.
