eee1313I e-mailed my boss this morning to ask if I could take tomorrow off as a vacation day. He said yes. Hooray! Now I don't have to worry about staying late at the office party after-party tonight. And tomorrow I can lug up my Christmas stuff from downstairs, and maybe actually start decorating. Hooray! I am pleased. I'm not telling my parents, though, because they'll want me to come out there and help them with their Christmas stuff. I don't want to. I want to get my own house in order, goshdarnit. But yay! No work tomorrow! Which is good, because I don't have any work to do right now, anyway.
Last night I stayed up far too late. I didn't mean to, but I did. I started compiling this year's wacky Christmas mix. It's good times. I listened to it on the way in to work today, because it was snowing lightly and looked oh so pretty. (Notice how I enjoy the mildly crappy weather when I don't have to drive in it? Heh.) Now I feel all festive. In case you were wondering, this year's mix is made up of the following songs:

1 This is my new favorite Christmas song this year. Some department store (hopefully not Macy's) is using it in their ads, and my mom mentioned she'd never heard it before. Then again, she swears that she's never heard "Mele Kalikimaka," either. How is it that a woman who loves Christmas so much knows fewer songs than me?
2 This is my new awesome annoying Christmas song. It's kind of like the standard German "Schnitzelbank" song, in that it repeats the verses in the chorus. But it's a polka and is all about Santa, and it's just so peppy and annoying, I love it.
3 You have to have at least one standard Christmas song on here, and who's better than Lena Horne? No one, that's who.
4 I really wanted to close out with Rufus Wainwright's rendition of "What are You Doing New Year's Eve." Unfortunately, that only exists as a 30-second Gap ad. Phooey! So instead I went with a banjo rendition of this song, because it's all upbeat and not all whiny clarinet and stuff.
Anyway, that's really all I got. This is a good way to start the month. Hopefully I'll get a lot done tomorrow. I want this Christmas to be relaxing and pretty. Yay!
