The Name Game

Everyone else is doing it, so I will, too.
1. Are you named after anyone?
Yes. I'm named after my great aunt, who's basically my dad's adoptive mom. Dad's sister also shares this name, but I wasn't named after her. Just my great aunt.
2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
Seeing as how I'm not sure if I'll ever have kids... Yes. If I have a boy, he'll be Daniel, after Danny Elfman (see icon). I've had my heart set on this for over a decade now. If I have a girl, she'll be Veronica, the family name that never was. Mom was supposed to be named Veronica, but my mom's aunt really wanted that name for her baby. So mom was born first, given a different name, and then Veronica was born and was a boy. So not only do I really like the name (and the Elvis Costello song), but I know it would make my mom and grandma happy to finally have a Veronica in the family. I also like the name Jospehine, after my Uncle Joe.
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
Mom and Dad always joke that either Yakgirl or I would have been named Lorenzo Alphonso, which are two old-school family names. (If you know my last name, it makes Lorenzo Alphonso even worse.) In reality, the name would have been David, Jr.
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
Rachel. I don't know why, but I love this name. And I'm kind of envious that
missrachael changed her name in college to Rachael (her middle name) because I always thought it was pretty.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do with your name constantly?
Moreso with my last name. But I get Helen and Eileen now and again. Every once in a blue moon someone will spell my name with a Y, like the town I grew up in.
6. Any nicknames you are fond of?
eep. I answer to it all the time. Yakgirl has called me eeper since I was a kid. Some of my really close friends call me El, and my friend Matt used to call me Ellie May. (He's the only person in the world who could get away with that.) Now my nephew calls me something like "Aeh-lee," which I think is adorable.
