WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS???
Okay, WHAT??? Who the hell thinks covering these songs is a good idea? According to Wikipedia, the new 2-disc soundtrack will also include Panic! at the Disco, She Wants Revenge, and Fiona Apple. GAH!!! At least Fiona covering "Sally's Song" won't make me want to stab myself in the face, but the rest of this just makes me want to die. DIE. OMG. Just, no. NO. I think right now I'm all bitter that this movie will now be equated with crap goth rock and pop punk bullshit, thus linking it even further to goth tweens who shop at Hot Topic. (Hey, I've shopped at Hot Topic MANY times in my life, but my NBX love goes back thirteen years. I have collectibles worth hundreds upon hundreds of dollars. I have framed cells from the movie autographed by Danny Elfman hanging in my house. And all this crap just cheapens it. BAH! And for the record, even Wikipedia mentions the old school fans vs. goth kids rift in the fan base. HA!)
That said, I will so be at the theater when this opens. This movie in 3-D? Oh hell yes. As if it weren't beautiful enough on a big screen.
Fall Out Boy and Marilyn Manson are among the stars paying tribute to Tim Burton's classic Halloween movie The Nightmare Before Christmas on a new soundtrack album. The acts have recorded covers of the composer Danny Elfman's macabre tunes for the release of the 3-D version of the animated movie this autumn. The film was first released in 1993 and has become a cult hit, spawning merchandise and memorabilia. (Source: IMDb)
