eee1313: (The Mummy)

  1. It is rainy here. Yesterday is was hot and sunny and windy. Right now it is mild and dreary and wet. Of course, this means that I have the blinds all the way open, sipping hot chocolate and watching the cars crossed the rain-slick bridge below. Lovely. And I mean that.

  2. So [livejournal.com profile] xica_s and I have been e-mailing today. She has informed me that the role of Evelyn Carnahan-O'Connell has been recast for The Mummy 3. Rachel Weisz has been replaced by Maria Bello who, while a competent actress, is no Rachel Weisz. Also, she cannot pass for half-Egyptian, or the reincarnated Nefertiri. But I guess now that the story takes place in China, no one will remember that Egyptian crap. Oh, and their annoying kid has been cast, but he's in his 20s now. How old will that make Rick & NotEvie? And did I mention this is being written by AlMiles, the braintrust behind Smallville? Even with the awesomeness that is Jet Li & Michelle Yeoh, this is going to SUCK.

  3. I fell behind on my freelance work last night. Thankfully I had a few hours where all my work was in review, with nothing new on the pipeline, so I hacked out a few pieces. Now I'm all caught up again. Yay!

  4. Last night's How I Met Your Mother was very good. If the show doesn't get renewed for next season, I will be satisfied with the ending they gave us. That said, I think the show probably will be renewed. CBS is losing one of their flagship sitcomes with The King of Queens, and if they cancel HIMYM they'll only have Two and a Half Men for their sitcom block. They need this show, especially for the demographic. (We all know The Class ain't coming back. It makes me think Lizzy Caplan is the female TV kiss of death, much like the way Nathan Fillion seems to be. It's a shame, because I love Lizzy and will watch that crazy shapeshifting lesbian anywhere. And yes, that's the one time I'll cut AlMiles a break, because how often do you get to break out the crazy shapeshifting lesbian label? Not often.)

ETA: HIMYM has been renewed! YAY!

  5. Jerry Falwell is dead. To quote one of my favorite TV shows, "Let me wipe away the tears with my PLASTIC HAND."

  6. This picture proves that the world of The Apple is a reality. A glorious, shiny, angular, confusing reality.

Joy beat me to it! *g*

I saw the news about Falwell earlier. Yeah, I'm real choked up about it.

I'm choked up, too. But that's because some Wheat Thins almost went down the wrong tube earlier.

Wheat Thins: Made of whole grain evil.

I am totally addicted to multi-grain Wheat Thins with light cream cheese. YUM.

Also, I'm sorry I missed your birthday! I didn't realize until this morning:

Just so you don't think I'm a self-involved knitter person, or anything.

Tell me about it. I saw that and thought, "Buhwha...?" Which sucks, because I love the Mummy movies.

When I read about the new Mummy casting, I immediately thought of you and [livejournal.com profile] xica_s. I was enjoying the little Mummy marathon yesterday on my day off, and was hoping that Wiesz would change her mind and come back. Alas, it's not to be. Maria Bello makes a good fiesty MILF-y mom type -- she showed that in A History of Violence -- but she just isn't Evie. And while she's not a natural blonde, she's been playing blondes too much lately to think that she has the right look.

It's funny that you mention The King of Queens (however briefly), because I finally realized that it's really funny. I don't know what it is about CBS, but I never seem to watch that station (even though there's stuff on it I'd like). It must be a throwback to the old days when CBS never came in well -- even though the age of cable has made that a non-issue, I just naturally seem to discount that station. The one ep of HIMYM I saw was really funny too.

On another note, do we have the final tally on our Robbie weekend?

Join me in the "What the hell?" department on the Mummy recast. I get recasting, because they really do need Evie, but Maria Bello? Just no. I like her, but I don't adore her like I do Rachel Weisz. It's a bad, bad recast and I really don't want to see this movie at all.

And yay for HIMYM! I really think it has the potential to be legen - wait for it! - dary!

No Rachel Weisz? Wtf?

So did we ever find out who "your mother" is on HIMYM?

Not yet. But we do know it's not Robin (the girl in this icon).

Sadly, even though they said in the FIRST EPISODE that Robin isn't the mother of Ted's kids, there are all these weirdoes online who keep coming up with conspiracy theories of how she IS the kids' parent. Like, Robin marries someone else, is left a widow or divorced, and Ted marries her and adopts her two kids from the previous husband. Um, no. When it says in the FIRST EPISODE that she's "Aunt Robin," she can't be the mother. These people are CRAZY with their theories.

There's an article on denial in the current Newsweek. Perhaps certain people in fandom ought to read it.

Evie!

Evie, shmevie...the real crime here is that Maria Bello is starting to keep her clothes on in films. Has she learned nothing from the cautionary tale of Julianne Moore?
