Y'all know that I'm nuts for Halloween. I love it. October is my favorite month of the year because of it. That, and pumpkin spice lattes. But I digress...

I think television might ruin my love of Halloween. I say this because last night I saw my first Halloween-themed commercial. It was AUGUST 27 yesterday. That's TWO MONTHS before Halloween. Top that off with Bravo showing Addams Family Values and The Exorcist back to back, and I fear that Halloween is coming much earlier than even I would want.

Please, television/stores/etc., please don't ruin Halloween with overcommercialization the way you did with Christmas. If you ruin this one, what will you have left? Flag Day?

I stopped listening after pumpkin spice lattes.... Mmmmmmmmmmm.....

But seriously... I got my Halloween-themed Oriental Trading catalog about 3 weeks ago. It's getting ridiculous.

Plus, it's longer for people to buy the things (like the spiderweb placemats and spider napkin rings) and will leave fewer items on clearance post-Halloween.

Oh man, I forgot about that Oriental Trading Company catalog. That was too much Halloween crap, even for ME.

Pshh. I was in Party City on August 17th buying crap for the HSM party and the store was already completely set up set up for Halloween. I was like "whaa?".

Geez, I thought all the harvest stuff in the grocery store was bad. It's like a cruel joke, when the only brown leaves right now are due to the horrible, blistering heat.

Isn't that always how it works? Then, by the time you're ready for whatever holiday is coming up, the stores have already moved on to the next and you're screwed.

I am part of the problem

I must admit; I've already bought the boys' Halloween costumes. I actually bought the big guy's costume in July when we were in Ohio. Yes, July. Babies R Us had them on display in JULY. And I, like a sucker, bought the only 48 month-size knight costume (like any mother of a Little Einstein's Good Knight and Bad Knight episode fanatic would have to). Then I found a dragon costume for the baby to go with the knight back here in RI (again at Babies R Us, and also probably in July). I'm a sucker. Now all the kid stores have costumes-- Children's Place, Gymboree, etc. But I think they waited to put them on display until August 29. Nice of them to wait, huh?

Okay, those are the cutest costume ideas ever.

That said, be part of the solution, not part of the problem! ;)

We were given Halloween costumes for Declan (and as he'll be only ten months old on the holiday itself it's not like he'll much CARE).

We're going to put him in the little polar bear costume. All we have to do is find a stuffed seal for him to gnaw on in costume. Heeee.

One, I saw that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back now at the Starbucks by my work. It's too hot to have one yet, at least for me.

Two, I had a dream that I had already decorated the apartment for Christmas.

What was the Halloween-themed commercial?

Awesome.

And of course, the commercial was something Disney-releated.
