Right now I'm over at the Scientist's place doing laundry while he's at work. How lame that we don't even live together yet, and we've already fallen into a pattern of domesticity.
Things in my world are okay right now. Friday late afternoon the Scientist called me at work, as he'd gotten a call from the bank that is financing our home loan. It seems the current owners would like to move the closing date forward two days so that they're not locked out of their home loan rate for their new place. Sure, no problem. This actually works out a bit better in our favor, as this gives us a bit more time. Before, the schedule would have been that we'd do the walk through and closing Thursday of next week,
yakgirl would fly in that night, Friday we'd paint, Saturday we'd be at a wedding, and Sunday we'd paint. Then Monday I'd go back to work while the Scientist packed up and moved out of his apartment by Thursday.
Now the plan is to do the walkthrough and closing on Tuesday of next week, take at least Wednesday off to paint, and then spend Thursday and Friday evenings after work painting. I think I'm going to basically move my home base to the Scientist's apartment that week, so that we can work on painting in the evenings after work. My boss is being really great about me taking time off, probably because he and his wife just closed on their house three months ago. So that's good.
On Friday night after work I walked to the other side of the Loop to meet up with
deeablo for a cheapo dinner at McDonalds. We sat and chatted for about an hour, then went over to 10 Pin for
xica_s's birthday extravaganza. She was already there with some of her family and a few friends. Over teh course of the evening more people trickled in, including
mei_x,
taraljc,
angelchicken,
disbelief11,
fava_bean, and
bunglegirl! Yay, she's back from her round-the-world trek! I was ridiculously excited to see her again. Anyway, we all bowled some terrible rounds, and then someone who worked there came over in the 8th frame to tell us that we couldn't have 8 people on a lane. Of course, this rule wasn't posted anywhere, nor did they tell anyone, so we were like "Screw you!" and kept bowling. Seriously, if they don't want more than 6 on a lane, change the software so that you can only add 6 people to a lane, not 8. Whatever.
But anyway, it was a really fun night. xica played a lot of great and terrible music on the video jukebox, and there were drinks aplenty, and lots of laughter and cheering each other on. It was a good time. I hope xica enjoyed herself. Yay!
On Saturday I slept in late, which was lovely. Around 1:00 the Scientist called to see if I was coming over. So eventually I got my ass in gear and headed to his place. He took me to a forest preserve nearby, and we went hiking for about an hour and a half. He packed a picnic dinner in his bag, including a bottle of wine. I asked if we'd be allowed to drink it at the forest preserve, and it turns out we couldn't. But we also had a can of soda a piece, so we drank the soda, then uncorked the wine, and poured it into the empty soda cans. Sneaky! We ended up sitting on a blanket eating steak, pepper, and asiago cheese sandwiches as the sun set. On the walk back to the car, we saw a deer. Woooo! I haven't seen a deer in forever. I guess I live too close to the city. But that's going to change soon enough, right? Afterwards we came home, watched Heroes, and had some cake. It was just a really good date. He's so awesome.
Well, that was good timing, because just as I'm wrapping this up, the timer for the laundry rang. So I have to go put clothes in the dryer. Y'all have a good day!
