eee1313I'm on my second coffee of the morning. Awesome!
Today at work we're having the 4th Annual St. Patrick's Day Potluck. I made beer bread and spinach & herb dip. I've made beer bread before with this same mix, and it always turned out flat and dense. But last night I screwed up the timer on the oven and so had to rely on the toothpick test to figure out if it was done. The bread was fluffy, golden, and beautiful after about 35 minutes, rather than the 50 that the recipe called for. And no matter where I poked into the bread, it came out clean. So now I have the best loaf of beer bread yet, and I'm sharing it with coworkers rather than eating it myself. Phooey.

fava_bean and Debbie are hosting, and holding it at fava's parents' house out in the burbs. The party has a "honeymoon" theme. I believe they're going to have all kinds of tacky decorations about the beach and fiestas and whatnot. I'm looking forward to it, as it should be rather laid-back and silly.
Last night the weather was beautiful here in Chicagoland. We got home from work, threw on our gym shoes, and took a walk down to Lake Harriet. I geeked out over watching ducks in the lake, and the Scientist said I'm like a kid when it comes to boring wildlife. (I also get excited watching squirrels do stupid stuff. I am my mother's daughter.) If weather permits, we're going to take pictures at Lake Harriet on our wedding day. There are some little bridges that will make for cute photos.
After dinner we played more Lego Star Wars, and we used our newly-won invincibility to kick some major ass. And we bought new players with all of our newly-won coins. My new favorite is Kit Fisto. Just look at his cute little beady eyes! ::love:: I've also gotten SO much better at this game. I am now mediocre! Wooooo!
And now, because time has passed, I am now eating corned beef & cabbage, beer bread, potatoes, and cheese. I even had some blood sausage. Way tasty!
Now I'm just waiting for the Scientist to call me and let me know if he got the afternoon off. I have 2½ sick days to use before I leave work, so I'm thinking of taking the next two Fridays off. If that's the case, then this will be my last Friday in the office. Kind of a weird feeling. But yeah, so I'm (hopefully) going to use that half day this afternoon and enjoy the last of the good weather before the temperatures plummet again over the weekend.
