First and foremost, I didn't get the job I was hoping for. :(
lunda, thank you so much for everything you did to help early on. I really appreciate it, and I probably wouldn't have gotten my foot in the door if it hadn't been for you.
But for now, it's back to the drawing board. I'm going to send out more resumes today after I get some work done, and if all else fails I'll sign up with Digital People as a temp. A LOT of people in my office have worked through them in the past, and they seem to be a good group. They also seem to need people out in the Western Burbs where I live, so we'll see what happens.

I only have 13 days of work left. Less than that, if I'm taking off the next two Fridays as "sick days." I don't get paid for leftover sick time, so I'm taking it. Of course, that would mean that I only have eleven work days left. Ten, if you don't count today. I'm kind of bitter about it today. There are all these rush-rush meetings to transition my work projects, like they just realized that I won't be around soon. I'm not blaming the people here at MY office; they've been telling the new Overlords that work would need to be transitioned sooner than later. I mean, if they can plan to lay us all off, hire new people, get severance packages together, etc., you'd think they could plan on moving the work to the new office before we're all halfway out the door, you know? But whatever. WHATEVER.

In happier news, this weekend was pretty good. Friday night I had my final bridal gown fitting, and Saturday was my final bridal shower. And then Sunday I went to one of the Scientist's friend's houses for a St. Patrick's Day party. I had some beer, corned beef & cabbage, potatoes, and two Irish Cream/spiced rum/cream drinks that the Scientist concocted. Then we headed over to his parents' house for a second dinner, where the four of us watched Stargate: The Ark of Truth. I have no knowledge of SG-1 other than what I've gleamed off my flist, but I soldiered through pretty well. It was kind of like watching The Peacekeeper Wars without ever watching Farscape.

Date: 2008-03-17 05:43 pm (UTC)I used to know a bunch of people who worked at Digital People and my bf got work through them once. I think they are good eggs.
And yes, those pants would make anyone cranky!
