G-Rod gets arrested!

Rod Blagojevich, Illinois' esteemed and noble governor, was arrested this morning. It seems he may have been trying to auction off Obama's senate seat to the highest bidder. And my "may," I mean "almost certainly."

The Smoking Gun has more info as well, including this juicy exerpt:

Blagojevich was caught on wiretaps noting that the Senate seat "is a fucking valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing." He was also recorded saying that unless "I get something real good," he would appoint himself to the vacancy. "I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seat myself."

Our governor, ladies and gentlemen! Let's give him a round of applause.

The best part is that he was already under investigation for corruption. So you would THINK he would realize that he might be being wiretapped, and would NOT DO SHIT LIKE THIS. I can't even believe it.

I can, because he's a massive idiot. I mean, massive idiot. His approval rating in October was at 4%. Even at his all-time worst approval ratings, Dubya scored higher in Illinois.

I am glad to say I voted for Topinka in the last election. And somewhere, Lisa Madigan is sharpening her claws. This is gonna get GOOD.

Blagojevich called Obama a "motherfucker" for wanting him to appoint an official that the governor either did not like or wouldn't receive money from. Local news reports, meanwhile, suggest that it was Obama chief-of-staff Rahm Emanuel who blew the whistle on the governor.
