Yesterday the Scientist and I went to see Duplicity. This is the first movie in which I've seen what everyone else seems to see in Clive Owen. Up till now, he just has been a big "meh" for me. But the Clive Charm was on big-time in this film, so there you are.

The movie is, I have to say, lovely. It kind of has that Ocean's Eleven feel to it, where everything is beautiful and slick and polished. So it's great eye candy.

But the ending... :\ I don't really know how I feel about the ending. Frankly, it was a great ending, in that it gave you just one last twist that you weren't expecting. And it definitely felt more true to the story. But was it satisfying? Nope. It left me feeling just kind of hollow about the film as a whole. Which is a shame, because up till then the doublecross upon doublecross was really engaging. And the end was just one more doublecross (which, again, felt more in tune with the point of the story as a whole) that just deflated the balloon. Oh well. Still, good visual eye candy.

I didn't read the spoilers as I haven't seen the movie yet...I've been trying to decide if my appreciation of Clive Owen is strong enough to overcome my dislike of Julia Roberts.

If it makes you feel any better, she's not annoying in this movie. She doesn't do crazy-mouth laugh at any point, save for the one time that they show during commercials. You do get Julia Roberts' stand-in's sideboob, if that counts for anything. And Clive in a towel.
