I am totally looking forward to this weekend. At first I was like "three-day weekend, yay." But now I'm all "THREE-DAY WEEKEND, YAY!!!" Why the change? Because on Friday the Scientist and I are going to Great America. WOOOOOOO! One of our friends gave him tickets for his birthday, and they have to be used by July 10. Originally he was thinking of going on Thursday. But then last night when I stopped by the theater to bring him dinner, he saw on the schedule that he's off all day on Friday, as am I. So this is the perfect opportunity for us to go.
Of course, it will be busy as hell that day, as everyone has that day off from work. And there will be fireworks that night. However, I was smart and bought a Flash Pass so that we'll have our places in line held for the big rides like roller coasters while we go off and do other things. I figure that since we didn't have to pay for the tickets, buying the line ride holding pass isn't a bad idea. So hopefully we'll get more bang for our buck this way.
I am very excited now. I haven't been to Great America since the Scientist's birthday in 2007. Unfortunately the last time we went there was only one coaster I didn't get to ride, and now it doesn't exist any more. Sadness. But now there's a Dark Knight ride that's enclosed and in the dark, like Space Mountain, so that should be fun. YAY!
And then on the Fourth we're going to a friend's house for a cookout and to watch the fireworks, so that should be fun as well. I am now counting down the hours till 5:00 on Thursday.

Date: 2009-06-30 06:10 pm (UTC)Not everyone. :P But to be fair, I wouldn't have been going to Great America that day even if I did have it off, so that doesn't help you much. ;)
I've only been to one Great Flags, in St. Louis in like, '95. It was good times. A Dark Knight ride sounds AWESOME.

I'm going to have my fingers crossed that a lot of people might head downtown to the Taste of Chicago that day. That night is when the city does its big fireworks show, so I'm going to hope that might draw people towards the city. Who knows?

Date: 2009-06-30 08:22 pm (UTC)And yeah, amusement parks on weekend -- holiday weekends, no less -- are crazy. But it's the only chance I have to go with the Scientist, and since the tickets have to be used by next Friday, anyway... Again, I'm just hoping the Flash Pass makes it easier.
