Happy Canada Day!

Yes, yes, I used this picture last year. I don't care. It's awesome. Awesome like Canada. Let's make a list of all the awesome things Canada has given us:

Crazy hockey fans. Butter tarts. Michael J. Fox. The diamond in my engagement ring. Rush. IMAX. Poutine. Alanis Morisette. Ryan Reynolds. Nanaimo bars. Anne of Green Gables. Neil Young. Trivial Pursuit. Sarah McLachlan. Television. Will Arnett. Barenaked Ladies. Telephones. Victor Garber. Making ice dancing worth watching. Keanu Reeves. The Kids in the Hall. Zippers. Catherine O'Hara. Celine Dion's chest pounding. Leonard Cohen. Dinosaur Comics. Jay Manuel. Forever Knight. Terry Fox. Ketchup potato chips. Phil Hartman. Pacemakers. William Shatner. Open-heart surgery. Wolverine. Frank Gehry. Electron microscopes. IRONSIDE! Really good maple syrup. Coffee Crisp, Smarties, & Crispy Crunch. Doug & Bob Mackenzie. Tim Horton's.

And a list of the not-awesome things Canada has given us:

Avril Lavigne. Paulo Costanzo (that's for you, [livejournal.com profile] aj!). Cojo. Colorized B&W films. Justin Bieber. Ren & Stimpy.

Things from Canada about which I'm undecided:

Nickelback

I heard a rock song called "Oh Canada" this morning on Sirius' Kids Place Live station-- it was pretty funny! I wish I could remember the band...

Anyway, you forgot one import, and I want to know where you rank this one: Pamela Anderson-- I bet I can guess!!!

And butter tarts...mmmm, butter tarts... I think Mom's going to have to make some for me! You know, as a belated Canada Day celebration!

I didn't really "forget" Pam Anderson. I just don't think she has a place on any of these three lists. I have no feelings towards her one way or another. She's just kind of ...there.

TOTALLY ask Mom to make butter tarts! Just don't eat them all before I get there.

I was starting to get a little wary as the list went on, questioning your Canadian street cred a bit, but you saved it at the very end. (If you hadn't mentioned TimHo's, I would have been very put out.)

How can you question any list that touts the awesomeness of one Michael Ironside? IRONSIDE!!!

If there was not any link to the awesomeness that are Timbits, the entire list would have been meaningless.

Are you? ARE YOU???

Heh. I decidedly didn't name people I knew personally, for fear of leaving someone off the list. OF COURSE my Canadian friends are the most awesome exports from Canada! (Except butter tarts. Butter tarts are better than everything.)
