Day 10: A song that reminds you of your father. I surprised my dad by having the DJs play this for the father/daughter dance at my wedding reception. Dad was a might embarassed, to say the least... But yeah, this song is my dad's song through and through.
The Hollywood Argyles: Alley Oop
Day 11: A song that reminds you of your mother. My mom used to sing this A LOT, to the point where
fava_bean and I refer to this as "my mom's song." Heh.
Alicia Bridges: I Love the Nightlife
Day 12: A song that reminds you of a specific place. Fun Loving Criminals: Scooby Snacks. This was EVERYWHERE when my family and I went to Switzerland in 1996.
yakgirl and I were equally confused by this, and the Spice Girls, who were just blowing up in Europe at the time.
Day 13: A song you sing in the shower. I don't actually sing in the shower. I just hear songs on a consant loop in my head while I shower. Normally this is whatever annoyingly catchy song the radio plays when I wake up. Lately it's been this song. And can I just mention how much I hate this band's "stream of consciousness" lyrics? This song has the line "Remember Winger?" that comes out of nowhere and makes no sense in context with the rest of the song. And in other songs of theirs, there's a mention of the guy's "untrimmed chest" which makes me recoil, and in "Meet Virginia" it was all about deep fried chicken. What the hell, Train? Write some lyrics that aren't just rhyming words! BAH!
Train: If It's Love
Day 14: A song from the year you were born. I'm tempted to post this clip from Hellboy II, but you have to get to 1:30 for the song to actually start up, and the rest of it's all dubbed into Spanish. So instead, I'll go with this.
Queen: We are the Champions
Day 15: A song you liked in high school. This was one of my favorite songs for a long, long time. It's still a favorite today. Be glad I didn't find the ORIGINAL version—it's 16 minutes long. (Man, I miss these guys.)
Oingo Boingo: Change
Day 16: Your favorite live version of a song. Despite what I said previously about Sarah McLachlan stagnating, I have to say I love love love the version of "Black" on her 1992 album, simply titled Live. It's very much NOT the new-agey version of the song that appeared on the album Solace, nor is it the creepier version that was on the X-Files soundtrack. This version actually rocks out, which is quite different for Sarah McLachlan.
Day 17: A song with amazing lyrics. These lyrics, paired with their intended audience, makes this one of the most gorgeous songs written.
Kermit the Frog: It's Not Easy Being Green
Day 18: An instrumental song you like. I don't know why I love this song so much. It's rather hypnotic.
Radiohead: Meeting in the Aisle.
Day 19: Your favorite love song. There are so many good songs, but there's something about this one that just touches all the right notes for me.
John Legend: Stay With You
Day 20: Your favorite breakup song.
Bif Naked: I Love Myself Today
The Hollywood Argyles: Alley Oop

Date: 2010-09-17 01:27 am (UTC)Aww, Train and the deep fried chicken. It is a weird line, but I like it in the context of the song.
