...George Lucas, haven't you ruined these movies enough already? Stop crapping all over my childhood memories! Learn your lesson! No one likes your tinkering! And no one likes retro-fitted 3D movies!

Booooooooooooooooooo, George Lucas! Booooooooooooooooooooo!

LOL! I know... but I was seven and I would quite literally run home from school so I could hurry and do my homework, then I'd ride my bike up to the base theater, catch a showing of Star Wars, ride home and get some exra chores from my mom so I could earn more money to support my Star Wars habit.

Of course, I also got to see it once as part of a school field trip! The Governor of Guam thought it was such a feat of technology and imagination that he sent all the schoolchildren on the island to see it.

Guam is AWESOME.

My school just sent us to a local health center to learn about puberty. They had a clear fiberglass model of a human woman whose internal organs lit up. BORING compared to seeing Star Wars on a field trip!

Come to think of it, we had some pretty awesome field trips when I lived on Guam... especially considering there was really a very limited number of places we could go -- we once went to the only "dairy" on the island (there was no local milk, it was all brought in powdered and reconstituted) to watch how ice cream sandwiches were made, we went to demonstrations of native culture, dance and history, went to the old Spanish Governor's mansion (it had been turned into a museum) and we went to the beach. It's possible we had some boring field trips, too, but they're not coming to mind.

Edited to change the icon... forgot I had this one!
