Hello, everyone! I'm back from Christmas at my parents' house, and now am spending the rest of the week off work, doing whatever it is people do when they're not working. It's good stuff. How were your holidays? I hope everyone's were good.

Things went well around here. Christmas Eve we went over to the Scientist's parents' house and hung out with them. They always do appetizers and finger foods and we watch a movie together. Then on Christmas morning the Scientist and I got up to exchange presents together, then loaded up my car and headed back to his parents' house to open gifts with everyone and do lunch. His mom made prime rib and a ton of different types of cooked turkey breasts, so we ate our fill and had a nice time with everyone. Then we hopped in the car and drove up to my parents' house in Michigan. Just as we arrived Mom was getting the dinner together, so we had ANOTHER huge meal, this time with turkey and cranberries and whatnot. We opened gifts with my parents and [livejournal.com profile] yakgirl and her family, and it was a nice evening.

The next day all of my cousins (all two of them, plus their families) came in from nearby Michigan cities, and we did everything all over again. Huge meal (this time with ham), opening presents, and general chaos with people everywhere. It was good to see everyone all together, though.

That night the Scientist started getting sick. That was no good. The next morning my mom, sister, and I went to see my grandma at the nursing home. Considering she's 102 and Alzheimer's has firmly set in, we had a really nice visit with her. She was as coherent as we could hope for, she was happy to see us, and she liked her Christmas gifts. I was doing okay until my mom and sister started singing her Christmas carols, which made me cry because one of my strongest memories of Grandma is her singing "Silent Night" at Christmas. But nonetheless, I'm glad we had a good visit with her.

After that I went to Meijer to get the Scientist some ginger ale and medicine, and then I started feeling gross. By the time I got home, I was sick, too. My family all went out shopping while I crawled back into bed, and the Scientist and I lay there groaning and clutching our abdomens in pain. Around 10:30 on Monday night I finally started to feel better. One whole day with my family, down the drain. Oh well.

On the bright side, the fact that I didn't eat at all on Tuesday or most of Wednesday made it really easy for me to fast for my bloodwork at the doctor's office this morning. Heh. I went in for that, and also another ultrasound to see how my fibroid tumors are going. It seems they've grown from three small tumors into one big 1" tumor. I don't know what that means. The doctor is going to look over my scans and call sometime in the next week or so to tell me if I'm okay, or need a different plan of attack to deal with this. Here's hoping I get an all-clear...

Anyway, so that's my Christmas in a nutshell.

Oh, and I forgot! My sister and her husband felt bad for me that I was sick and laid up in bed, so they bought me a copy of The Hunger Games. Everyone else is reading or has read it and LOVED IT, and now I'm almost 100 pages in and am loving it as well. I can't wait to read more!

Other than getting sick (boo!), it sounds like you had a great Christmas. I'm so glad your time with your grandma went well.
