The other day I made fruitcake cookies for Christmas. I've also made lemon bars, cherry nut squares, magic cookie bars, date balls, and regular chocolate chip cookies with red and green chocolate chips. I still have to make Russian nut balls and butter tarts. (The latter were a request from my in-laws; I made them at Thanksgiving and they liked the tarts so much they requested them again.) So I'm doing fairly well at the Christmas cookie baking thing. Go, me!
Things are coming along okay otherwise. I am absolutely dreading going back to work in a week or two. The thought of being away from the baby makes me openly cry. I can't even think about it without getting choked up. Man, I hate how there's barely any maternity leave for people in this country. My mom got a Christmas card from the German exchange student we hosted when my sister was in high school, and she said that she just had a baby and is getting a full YEAR off work. God, I would kill for that much time off to spend with my kid. Stupid America. >:(
As for the baby, she's doing well. She's becoming much more aware of what's going on around her, and she's starting to grasp things with her hands. She's wonderful. That said, finding time to do ANYTHING is next to impossible. On average I'm only taking showers every other day, I don't eat breakfast until around noon, and I go through at least two shirts a day. (She goes through a lot more clothing, however, so I should count myself lucky.)
And now she's crying because her pacifier fell out of her mouth, so I have to go help her out. I hope you're all doing well!
