In the interest of full disclosure, I did not watch the Globes last night. And I only saw a little bit of the red carpet arrivals, so most of my opinions are based off the photos. An outfit may have looked better/worse in motion, but I can't tell. Now, on to the dresses!

Amanda Peet's dress reminds me of a lampshade or a bad 70s bridal gown or SOMETHING. It's no good, because her head looked nice.

Claire Danes, however, looks great.

Piper Perabo WHUT. I just... WHUT.

Ariel Winter looks adorable and age-appropriate.

Kelly Osborne. What is going on with those shoulders? And moreso, what's going on with your HAIR? During her E! red carpet coverage, it looked as if the bun was a completely different color from the hair near her scalp. Ick.

Octavia Spencer looked great (despite the bitchface going on in this photo). This woman knows how to dress her body shape, and how to pick color.

Nicole Richie looked fabulous. I love the way the fabric falls on this dress with all the different bias cuts.

Oh, Melissa McCarthy. I love you. I think you're hilarious and very pretty. That said, you need to learn to dress better for formal events. This dress does NOTHING for you. (Also, I didn't realize until yesterday that her husband was the dude in that "Denim! Shaun White hoodies and denim!" Target commercial.)

I just don't know what to think of the Deschanel sisters. Emily looks oddly top-heavy, and Zooey... Man, I just don't like her. She's so damn TWEE. The green in her dress is funky in the front, but in the back it formed a peace sign. And her hair? Dear God, it looked as if she had SIDEBURNS. Oh, and her fingernails were painted with little tuxedos on them. Of course they were. :|

At first glance I did not like SMG's dress. Then they showed more of it during her interview on E!, and WOW, is that different. And yes, I'm also biased to like SMG, and she gave an absolutely charming interview where she said FPJ was at home watching football and their idea of date night is going to IHOP. In conclusion, yes to this dress.

Debra Messing looks the same as always. Snoozeville.

Ricky Gervais is the only person at this event who could do a burgundy tux.

I really like Glenn Close's dress. Simple, but very elegant. This is the kind of dress I'd expect Helen Mirren to wear. Also, poor Glenn. She NEVER wins an award when she's up against Meryl Streep. Give Glenn an award already, damn it!

Is it just me, or does Tina Fey looks oddly stumpy?

Natalie Portman is in pink and red again. She's like "Remember when I wore pink and red when I was hugely pregnant? Yeah, this is take two with my normal, tiny body."

Morena Baccarin is the human version of a T-top convertible.

I'm glad to see Missi Pyle looking pretty. She always plays the goof (the Russian dodgeball woman in Dodgeball, Violet Beauregard's crazy mom in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), so it's nice to see her all fancied up.

I love Sofia Vergara's dress, especially the bottom of it. Too bad she could barely walk in it.

Despite being all sexy-curvy-ish, Reese Witherspoon's look does nothing for me.

I like Michelle Williams in her blue burned-velvet dress. I do not, however, like her headband.

SWINTON! Hooray! Her outfit is actually VERY pretty. The color is great, the structure is great. It seems this time, SWINTON let her hair make up the crazy quotient of her outfit.

Seeing as how Angelina Jolie almost always wears black, white, or nude, I am absolutely loving the pop of red in this dress. She looks fab.

Evan Rachel Wood is like a weird mermaid/bird hybrid, what with the scales on her bodice and the feathers on the bottom. I kind of like it.

Mila Kunis looks uncharacteristically dull.

Maya Rudolph looks completely forgettable.

Emma Stone's dress is kind of awesome. I'm not sure what's up with her eye makeup, though.

I wish this photo of Salma Hayek was taken from the front. Her dress had this weird gold breastplate that I can't even explain.

OMG, I totally wish Gerard Butler had gone with Piper Perabo. Can you even IMAGINE???

Shailene Woodley wins the award for "best use of illusion netting." I think this is a good dress for a girl on the verge of becoming the next big starlet.

What is going on with Viggo?

Anyone else getting tired of Kate Winslet? Lately she just comes across as smug all the time. (Also, her dress bores me.)

Madonna's dress is appropriately funky. She can totally pull this off. However, Andrea Riseborough next to her had on THE WEIRDEST dress. I wish there was a better photo of it. I only saw it for a split second on TV, but I was like "WTF is THAT?"

Viola Davis looks great.

Berenice Bejo looks lovely in that color. However, I don't like the hankies-hanging-off-her effect going on near her knees.

I love Peter Dinklage, but his hair is way too close to becoming Bieber 1.0.

Whoa, Busy Phillips has fringe.

Lea Michelle better thank her lucky stars Piper Perabo showed up in that horrible see-through tarp dress -- otherwise Lea would be the winner for worst dressed of the night. What IS this? She's like a sexy alien from a bad sci-fi film.

Dianna Agron's dress is ridiculously complicated and I really like it.

Rooney Mara brings the goth with her dress, though her makeup is great. What if she was actually super girly-girl and wanted to wear pink, but her handlers told her to keep with the goth thing or else no one would know she's Lisbeth Salander and therefore wouldn't be recognized?

Naya Rivera looks as if her dress is on backwards.

Jodie Foster's dress reminds me of a beach towel for some reason.

Official members of the Skin-Tone Dress Club: Katherine McPhee, Jessica Alba, Charlize Theron, Heidi Klum, Jessica Biel (doing her best Gozer the Gozerian gets married shtick), Nicole Kidman, Diane Lane, Kristen Wiig (snoozeville), Julie Bowen, and Amy Poehler. Piper Perabo is the President of the club. Can we officially retire this color trend?

The other popular membership for red carpet walkers: The Canary Yellow Club. See Mireille Enos, Maria Menounos, the aforementioned Missi Pyle, and Paula Patton.

And finally, I WISH I had a full photo of Thomas Jane. What the hell is he wearing???

I love me some Zooey D. and if that dress were above the knee I think it would be great on her. Peace sign on the back, however, um, no.

Although I don't like SMG's dress, I think she gets points for trying something new.

Not sure who Missie Pyle is but love her dress. The color, especially.

Love the top of Dianna Agron's dress, the bottom mishmash, not so much. Lea Michelle always seems like she dresses too old.

Hate the nude color trend. Blah. And what's with all the bitchface across the board?

Emily Deschanel probably still has baby weight (didn't she give birth in October?) so I'll excuse the loose caftan-y dress. Zooey on the other hand... what is with that?!

Lea Michele should be wearing Nicole Richie's dress. That's the type of thing she looks fab in. Not that mess that she's in.

But Piper... oh Piper. Who told her that was a good idea?

I love these posts of yours! Yay!

I was so bored with all of the nude/beige/blah blah snoozzzzzzeville, but I do like the yellows (for the most part).

That being said, I LOVED Nicole Kidman's dress (much more on TV than in the picture).

I feel like Tina Fey is still working on baby weight, maybe? Because she can wear that style of dress without the stumpification. Or maybe the bottom just began at an odd spot?

I thought Angie looked fabulous and loved the red at her neck.

Finally, I am so tired of Rooney Mara's "black dress with strategic cutouts" look. She can be funks and edgy without being boring (which she really is). (Though I was impressed with her aplomb when answering questions about whether or not she kept her Lisbeth Sanders piercings)(which has to be a drag and also awkward).

No! Wait! Other finally. I liked Dianna Agron's dress so much, but she is so insanely beautiful, and I feel like the dress took away for her own beauty. I mean, it takes a lot to outshine her face, but the dress did it.

And I love SMG.

That's all. =)

Love these posts! Thanks for doing them. :) Angelina's whole look is amazing. I usually don't pay a lot of attention to her given the black/nude color scheme, but I think she looks stunning here.

I also really dig Evan Rachel Woods' dress.

And WTF Viggo! Are you aiming for intentionally ugly? I am hoping that was supposed to be "ironic" or something.

So, here's my two cents:

1. Loved SMG's dress. Called Mom to tell her that her idea for a tie-dye/batik prom dress for me in 1992 has finally come to fruition as a haute-couture dress in 2012. She's just 30 years ahead of everyone else.

2. I think Lea Michelle wore Tina Fey's dress last year, only in navy. Didn't like it then, either.

3. Here's my take on Lea Michelle-- I have to admit that I sorta loved her dress; but mostly because I think she's decided that if she can't quite pull off Barbra Streisand 2.0, why not go for Cher 2.0 instead???

4. Diana Agron's dress was awesome. Loved hearing her talk about the laser cuts that made up the bodice that she didn't totally understand even HOW it was made, but she recognized it as utterly phenomenal work and therefore chose it. Nice.

5. I would PAY someone to, instead of wearing another bland, boring, icky nude dress, to just GO NUDE!!!!!

6. Yeah, Melissa McCarthy could take a page from Octavia Spencer's stylist. Though my own prejudices about the nastiness of my own upper arm flab made me not like Octavia's dress just the eeensiest bit. But she (Octavia) looked phenomenal.

7. Loved Mrs. Keith Urban. It was weird, but I loved it.

8. I also find Angelina Jolie's dress to be... ick. Just boring, predictable, and I thought the red "collar" was too high. It cut off her neck and looked uncomfortable.

9. Piper Perabo is my FAVORITE. Ever. Looks like someone made that dress out of used plastic trash that washed up on a used-syringe-laden beach.

10. Kelly Osborne, did I dye your hair? Is THAT your excuse? Because even I would have made sure that the blonde ends of your hair tied into the chignon at the back of your neck matched the BLUING that someone (maybe Ramona Quimby???) put in the roots of your hair. Utterly terrible.

11. This is just for Eeper, but don't you find a STRIKING resemblance between Glenn Close as Albert Nobbs and our grandfather??? For this, and this reason alone, she has my Oscar vote. Just sayin'.
