Movie round-up

I've seen several movies lately and thought I'd record my thoughts of them here. First up is Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Hey, I saw it for free, shut up. Okay, so
taraljc was totally and completely right when she said this movie makes more sense if you think it exists on the same plane as Hercules and Xena. I mean, if Bruce Campbell suddenly emerged from the woods and decided to help Hansel and Gretel, it would make perfect sense. Because this movie was RIDICULOUS. So, so, so stupid. And rather fun. The guy behind us was laughing at everything that was completely inappropriate to laugh at, which made the movie much more fun. So stupid. Wow.
Then we rented Pitch Perfect, which was much better than I thought it was going to be. It helps that I peripherally knew people like this in college. My roommate was a music major, most of her friends were music majors, some of them dated the guys from the Other Guys, my college boyfriend was in the men's choir and so I had to go to a lot of concerts where the Other Guys sang, my other roommate's sister was in No Strings Attached (a co-ed group)... Yeah. Anyway, because of all this I found the movie much funnier than my husband or sister-in-law, though all three of us enjoyed it very much. The vocal arrangements were actually REALLY good.
And finally, we saw Warm Bodies because I'm a wuss and can't handle scary zombie movies, so this was as close as the Scientist would ever get to me seeing World War Z. Notice those two films are nothing alike. Warm Bodies was okay. All the good jokes were in the trailer, which was kind of a disappointment. The movie is Romeo & Juliet in zombie apocalypse. It's predictable. But it was okay. Of the three movies I saw I liked this one the least. It's not bad, good for a rental, but if there's only one movie you're heading out to see I'm sure there's better stuff out there.
