I am currently in the process of dying my hair. I have enough gray hair at my temples that I wanted to dye it prior to
fava_bean's wedding in two weeks. (TWO WEEKS!) I don't exactly know how my hair is going to be done, but I'm thinking curly and off the face, so the gray temples need to go. Thus, I am sitting here with goop on my hair and smelling oddly like peroxide and citrus.
Things are going well around here. Work is fine, the Scientist's job is fine, the kid is doing okay. She still loves her dinos, but now enjoys throwing balls. The reason she's only "okay" is that she's had a bout of intestinal duress for the past week and a half. If it doesn't get better soon, we'll have to go to the pediatrician and have her tested for a bacterial infection rather than a viral infection. That said, other than diaper issues she seems to be just fine. It's not slowing her down any, and she's just as playful as ever. She's getting so much better with her ABCs. She likes to take the alphabet magnets off the fridge and then bring them to us, at which point we ask her what letters she has in her hands and she almost always gets them right. Way to go, kid! Between reading books to her constantly and her love of Super Why!, I think she's got a leg up on kids when it comes to the ABCs. Here's hoping she'll be an early reader like I was...
What else is up? The weather is finally getting HOT here in Chicagoland, which means I'll be hiding indoors as much as possible. Stupid heat.
I know I have more to tell you all. I rarely post, and then when I'm finally in front of the computer I can't think of what I wanted to say. Hmmm... I saw Man of Steel. It was okay. Better than I expected, considering how the critics have been bagging on it. (I swear, if the critic from the Chicago Tribune hates a movie, I'm certain to enjoy it.) Anyway, it wasn't a bad Superman movie. It kept me engaged, though at the end it did seem as if it were excessive in its fight-fight-fight! climax. Both the Scientist and I were marveling at how much property damage was happening in Metropolis. And what was the civilian casualty count? But still, the movie was pretty, the special effects were great, and I liked the cast. If you're not interested in spending your money on a ticket, I'd definitely say it's worth a rental. Hopefully this week we'll be going to see Monsters University (we get two sets of 8 free tickets at the local theater this month because of our birthdays). So yay for movies!
I'm REALLY looking forward to Pacific Rim next months, simply because it's Guillermo Del Toro and his movies always look CRAZEBALLS AMAZING. Plus, Ron Perlman. Gotta love that surly bastard. :)
Anyway, I know there's more I wanted to talk to you all about, but I don't remember at all what it was. I hope you're all having a nice weekend. Now it's time to rinse my hair.
