I haven't posted in a while mainly because I haven't had a lot to post about. It's pretty much all baby and/or toddler all the time. I'll save that stuff for behind a cut in case you're really interested. In other news, life is fine. The Scientist is off at an auction with his dad and the kid is sleeping, so I finally have a few moments alone and can update. (Not that the Scientist would stop me. The kid definitely would.) Work is just plugging along slowly. My boss is reluctant to give me any major projects because I only have two months of work left this year before the baby comes and maternity leave kicks in. On the one hand, this is great because I'm not stuck working on the God-awful projects some of my coworkers are doing now. On the other hand, I'm doing the most tedious, dull jobs around. Oh well. It is what it is.

The house is slowly but surely getting into shape. There's been a lot of re-ordering the furniture upstairs and reorganizing everything. I feel as if there's still a ton to be done (there is), but I feel good knowing that the kids' room at least is in good condition.

We've started watching the BBC version of The Three Musketeers here and there. I'm pleasantly surprised by it. I've never read Dumas so I have no idea how close it is to the book (the Scientist says it "takes liberties" but is holding more true to the spirit than a lot of interpretations, so there's that). Otherwise, on the rare chances when I do get to watch "adult TV," I find there's nothing on except Hollywood Game Night. For real. And we haven't seen a movie in a few weeks, though we may go to see Sin City 2 sometime next week. Is it just me, or has this summer pretty much sucked for movies? Other than GotG, there's been nothing I've been absolutely wanting to see. Just kind of "meh" about it all.

It's been super-rainy around here lately, which I've been LOVING. Everyone hates when it rains, but it makes me really happy. Of course, I wouldn't feel this way if my house were flooded like some have had happen in the western burbs. But as it is, yay rain! Yay, thunderstorms! There's nothing like a good summer thunderstorm. I just hope it doesn't rain tomorrow because it's supposed to be hot and I want to go to the pool one last time before it closes for the season. I can't believe Labor Day is right around the corner already. Yikes.

I only have a little over 7 weeks before I hit week 40 in my pregnancy (which is full-term, in case the weekly count is Greek to you). I went to the doctor earlier this week and had an ultrasound, during which I was told my baby is closer to the 34-week range in size. Thankfully this does not affect my due date, as I really would prefer this kid doesn't arrive early so that my maternity leave/vacation time can run through the end of 2014 and I can still get paid. I was also informed the baby has a large head circumference and therefore I'm now leaning towards having a second c-section rather than a VBAC. We were planning to just leave it up to fate, but I know they won't let me go more than a week past the due date this time around. So if he doesn't arrive on or before the Monday when he's due, I'll just have a c-section scheduled for later that week, anyway. But the idea of pushing a Stewie Griffin-headed child out DOES NOT sound like a good time to me. Yikes. Otherwise all is well. This pregnancy is chugging along just fine, no complications, no signs of distress. So that's good.

I have the nursery all ready for him when he arrives, and all of the clothes that [livejournal.com profile] yakgirl provided a few months ago are all washed and folded and put away. THANK GOD for my sister saving all of her nice baby clothes for me. We have the entire dresser nearly full already with 0-3 clothes. Thank you, thank you, thank you. That just saved us a small fortune. Meanwhile, on VEE's half of the room things are going just swimmingly. She absolutely loves her new bed and has slept in it every night since it arrived. This week I put up the Tinker Bell wall decals that her aunt bought her, and she thinks it's awesome to have the fairies watching over her bedroom. So that's great.

VEE has just been a peach lately, which is nice. Potty training isn't working out at all, but what are you gonna do? ::shrugs:: Today she woke up and first thing asked for me to read her a book, which is a nice way to start a Saturday morning. So far today we've read books, watched Sleeping Beauty, done puzzles, loaded the dishwasher, saw the episode of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood where his mom has a baby (how timely!), and played with Colorforms. She's been napping for nearly two hours now, so I need to go wake her up.

Oh, today in the mail we got a catalog from Birthday Express (we purchased our Golden Books party decorations from them for VEE's first birthday party). She sat down and looked through it and decided she wants her birthday party to be Frozen-themed this year. Sure, fine. My mom is making her an Elsa dress for Halloween, so this will give her another chance to wear it. But then as she went through the catalog she also decided she wanted a How to Train Your Dragon party. I asked her which one, and she said "Frozen for my first party, Dragons for my second!" No, kid, you just get ONE party. Heh.

And with that, my husband just got home and VEE just woke up, so I'm outta here. Later!

I'm glad to hear things are going well with the pregnancy. I can't believe you're so far along already. Also, I quite like The Three Musketeers. I don't think I ever read the book, but the Richard Lester films are my touchstone, and the show has a lot of the same feel. Also many pretty men to look at.

The show keeps impressing me. We watched two more episodes last night after VEE went down. It's really a lot of fun.

Aww, VEE. Can she have a party with both themes? I don't know how that would work, but maybe she could have HtTYD plates with F cups?

Good luck with everything else. :D

Nah, she's just getting a Frozen party. My mom is making her an Elsa costume for Halloween, so this will give her another chance to wear it.

Hey, Ellen. I'm glad to see that you're feeling well in your final trimester. I agree with you that Guardians of the Galaxy has been the only decent movie this summer. I finally saw it last Sunday and really enjoyed it. Hope y'all have a great Labor Day!
Rebecca
