Snowpocalypse + earthquake = snooze
Feb. 10th, 2010 08:48 amThere was supposed to be a GIANT SNOWPOCALYPSE hitting Chicago over the past 36 hours. I preemptively asked for yesterday off work, because the snow was coming OMG!!!!!! Frankly, I just didn't want to have to drive two hours to work when there's barely any work to do. Except the snow didn't come yesterday morning like they originally said. Then it was supposed to hit for the commute home, so I preemptively told my boss I might leave early. Except no snow came. And then last night THE SKY WAS GOING TO FALL ON US ALL!!!!! And it did, but not till well after I was home from work (with no delays to my commute, I might add). I shoveled the drive and walkway last night twice, so there were no surprises this morning. Which was good, except that I woke up a half hour early to shovel ALL THE SNOW OMG, and there was none. So now I'm at work early.
Also last night: EARTHQUAKE IN ILLINOIS OMGWTF!!!!!! People EVERYWHERE felt it! ...Except me. I slept right through it. This is the second earthquake that I know for a fact I've slept through. (The other was out in Palm Springs during one of my visits to my uncles.) So now the local news is all "EARTHQUAKE!!!! Did your paintings fall off the wall?" Dude, who cares? If the people who live in the town where it hit, 50 miles from Chicago, didn't have damage, then why the hell are we making such a big deal about this?
Needless to say, the past few days have been a giant letdown, nature-wise. Oh well.
